Gatwick airport (LGR) is London's second airport and with easy reach of
the city and southern parts of the United Kingdom.
Gatwick is the busiest single runway airport in the world.
FACTS & FIGURES
1. London Gatwick airport is 28 miles (45km) from the center of London.
2. The airport has two terminals, north and south.
3. Over 80 airlines fly to and from Gatwick, serving 200 destinations
and 30 million passengers a year.
4. Both terminals have a selection of shops on both sides of the customs
check points. There are plenty of places to eat and find a drink.
5. All major car hire companies have booths in the terminals. You will
generally find the best car hire price by making your reservation online
before travel.
6. Moving between terminals is easy, using the courtesy rail shuttle
service and takes only a few minutes.
GETTING TO AND FROM LONDON GATWICK
1. Road: From the M23 motorway, take exit 9. Gatwick is also accessible
from the A23 London to Brighton road. There are short term car parks at
both terminals. Long term car parking serves both terminals by courtesy
coach.
2. Rail: The Gatwick Express train runs from Victoria mainline rail
station directly to the south terminal at Gatwick. The journey takes 30 minutes.
3. Bus and Coach: Services operate to nearby Crawley, Horley and Redhill
and other destinations.
4. Taxi: Look for the official Checker Cars and avoid the unlicensed
cars which often tout for business. Taxis can be found at both
terminals.
5. Underground: Gatwick is not served by the London underground.
