Launched in 1993, Take Your Daughter to Work Day is held every April.
What do you do for a living? Can you see your daughter at your place of
work? Imagine the delight of your daughter climbing into the fire
engine, or her excitement at using the office photocopier. These may be
everyday mundane tasks to us, but for children to be able to turn their
imagination into reality is a joy to behold. Remember watching your
daughter playing store or being a doctor? Take Your Daughter to Work
Days gives her the opportunity to turn these games into reality.
How practical is it to take a child to work for a day? Being able to
work with constant questions can be difficult. Many will take their
daughters to work and leave them with other children to play all day,
which rather defeats the purpose. Other feel that their children should
be educated at school and not in their parents' workplace.
TOP TIPS & BENEFITS
1. Most girls enjoy the day and are able to share their experiences with
their class the following day.
2. They'll have new experiences and have the opportunity to see their
parents in a very different role outside their home.
3. If during school time, you will need permission for school for a day
out.
4. If you don't own the business, make sure you have permission to take
your child to work.
5. Children may become bored, so take something they enjoy for them to
do. But choose something quiet!
