The National Exhibition Centre (NEC) is the premier exhibition space in
the United Kingdom.
Located 8 miles (13km) east of the City of Birmingham, many of the
countries most important events take place here.
Next to Birmingham International airport and the M42 motorway, the complex includes 21
interconnected exhibition halls and the NEC Arena.
FACTS AND FIGURES
1. The NEC is the largest exhibition space in Europe, with 200,000 sq.
metres of floor area, divided into 21 interconnecting halls.
2. Some exhibitions use only part of a single hall, where others use the
entire complex. The largest exhibition, the Spring Fair Birmingham, has over 4,000 trade stands.
3. Over 180 exhibitions are held at the NEC each year.
4. There are four on-site hotels and parking for over 20,000 cars.
5. During most events, there are choices of places to eat and drink.
6. Be prepared for a lot of walking. The NEC cover a large area and
distances can be deceptive.
GETTING TO AND FROM THE NEC
1. Road: From the M42 motorway, take exit 6. From the M6 (Toll) the NEC
can be accessed from exit T1.
2. Rail: The NEC and NEC Arena are served by Birmingham International
rail station. The station is located at the NEC and all areas are within
walking distance.
3. Air: Birmingham International Airport is just a few minutes from the
NEC and NEC Arena. Over 20 international airlines fly into Birmingham,
which acts as a hub to 34 UK destination airports.
4. Taxis: Often available at the exits to halls, but likely to be in
short supply towards the end of an event.
5. Parking: There are over 20,000 car park spaces serving the venues.
